REVIEWS

(or DO YOU LIKE MY NEW BOOK?)
Here's a sampling of some of the reviews I've received for HUNGRY FREAKS,
DADDY (and, soon, STRICTLY GENTEEL). I'm happy to say that all reviews I've seen
have been very kind. Lots more on the way, but this will give you an idea of what
da peoples say...

SCOTT PARKER: HUNGRY FREAKS, DADDY The Recordings Of FRANK ZAPPA And
The Mothers Of Invention - Volume One 1959-1969 (Parker Books)

Imagine someone picking up where Norbert Obermann's Zappalog left off and
correcting all of the bootleg track list errors left be by the Torchum Team, and
you've got an idea of what this book's like. Add to that some helpful narrative
along the way and you'd best zip your anorak's up tight 'cause you're in for a
thrilling ride. Scott doesn't try to emulate Greg Russo's detailed tome, but it is
similarly a labour of true love. Full review coming soon, but meantime check out
Scott's website for ordering details: http://www.scottparkerbooks.com./.

hungry freaks daddy - the recordings of frank zappa and the mothers of invention -
volume one 1959 - 1969
by scott parker
 (2007, book, usa, private release)
Wowie zowie...
Here it is... The first volume of Scott Parker's books on the recordings of FZ and
the MOI.
There's two main parts in the book:

part one: the discography
the official releases: albums, singles, compilations, ...
the bootlegs: vinyl & cd
unreleased projects
interviews
videography
part two: the live tapes
with all the spoken word fragments written out
I really like this.
If were thrilled by the Zappalog, and if you drooled over the Torchum Books (like I
did...), this one should be on your list.

Scott has made a deal that will allow him to have this book published by
Amazon/Booksurge. His DIY edition is limited to 100 copies and includes colour
images of a lot of album covers, so hurry if you don't have your copy yet. The
Booksurge edition will be a bit smaller in size and will be in B&W, but you'll be able
to catch that
one later on...

AND HERE'S SOME READER REVIEWS (names omitted, but they're real):

Thanks to you Scott I've returned to the older tapes of MOI and it is a
whole new experience to read your stuff while listening. It's like
having a
similarly deranged Zappa aficionado by one's side who's is making
comments
on stuff that you don't yourself immediately hear and it makes you love
the
tapes even more!

I shall expect to buy the next installment of yer book and again look
forward to new listening experiences from the Zappa tapes. I hope you
keep
on transcribing His Master's Voice in between the songs, because I love
to
read that.
