At last it's time for Volume Three of my
Recordings Of Frank Zappa Series. BLESSED RELIEF picks up where STRICTLY
GENTEEL left off, with Frank plotting his next musical move after the
Rainbow disaster gig. The book takes you through the ensuing Grand and
Petit Wazoo bands to the lengthy 1973 tours with the "Ponty Band". The
discography covers such Zappa classic albums as Waka/Jawaka,
The Grand Wazoo and Over-Nite Sensation.
The format of the book remains much the same as
the previous two volumes, with a complete discography of both official and
bootleg releases featuring material from this period in the first part of
the book. The second part features reviews of every known-to-exist
unofficial recording from this period currently circulating among
collectors. I have also included a section of updates and corrections to
the previous two books in the series.
At 399 (!) pages, this is the largest book of
the series yet. And I hope you will find that they keep getting better!
